How to use Lancaster Puppies Messages

Our built-in messaging system is available to all users and is the safest way to connect with sellers.

Many sellers prefer to start with a quick chat before sharing contact details.

To view your conversations, simply click the mail icon in the top-right corner of the page. From there, you can read and reply to messages, all in one secure place.

How to Know if Your Messages Are Sending

You can check the status of your messages either by looking at the icons under your message or in your list of chats.

In a conversation:

  • One tick – Your message has been sent but not yet delivered.
  • Two grey ticks – Your message has been delivered but not read.
  • Two green ticks – Your message has been read by the receiver.
  • A profile picture under your message also means it has been read.

Tip: The date and time under your message show when it was sent. Tap the message to see more details.

A tick under your message indicates that your message has been sent to the other person but not read yet. The date and time say when the message was sent. You can tap the message to see whether it has been delivered or not.

A profile picture under your latest message indicates that the receiver has read your message.

Reasons Why Messages May Not Be Sent

Sometimes a message won’t go through. Common reasons include:

  • Your message contains blacklisted information (for example, certain personal details).

  • Your IP location is on a blacklist, such as if you’re in a region commonly linked to scams.

Deleting Chat Conversations

You can remove a conversation from your inbox if it’s no longer needed - for example, if the seller no longer has puppies available or you’ve decided someone isn’t a suitable match.

To delete a conversation:

  1. Open the chat thread you want to remove.

  2. Click the cog icon and select Delete conversation.

  3. Confirm you want to delete the thread.

  4. Refresh the page.

Note: The conversation will be removed from your list but will still appear in the other person’s inbox. If they send you a new message, you’ll receive it, but the previous chat history will not be visible to you.

Blocking a User in Chat

If you’d like to stop someone from contacting you, you can block them.

To block a user:

  1. Open the chat thread with that person.

  2. Click the cog icon and select Block user.

  3. Confirm you want to block them.

A Blocked label will appear on that user, and you’ll no longer receive their messages.

Important: If you’re blocking someone due to suspected scams, abuse, or welfare concerns, also report them by clicking the person icon and selecting Report user so we can help protect others.

Will they know I blocked them?
No - blocked users are not notified that they have been blocked by you.

Unblocking a User in Chat

If you’d like to allow messages from someone you’ve blocked:

  1. Open the chat thread.

  2. Click the cog icon and select Unblock user.

  3. Confirm you want to unblock them.

The Blocked label will disappear, and you’ll be able to exchange messages again.
