Lancaster Puppies Welfare Policy

At Lancaster Puppies, we care deeply about the health and well-being of every animal advertised on our platform. Our goal is to ensure that all puppies listed are raised in safe, ethical, and loving environments.

While we are an advertising platform and not directly involved in the sale or care of the puppies, we take all welfare concerns seriously and will take appropriate action when issues are brought to our attention.

Whenever possible, we work directly with sellers to address concerns, provide education, and ensure compliance with our standards. However, if a seller is unwilling or unable to meet those expectations, we will take firm action to remove their listings and take further action with the relevant authorities if needed.

The safety and welfare of animals will always be our top priority.

Seller Responsibilities

All sellers advertising on Lancaster Puppies are expected to meet the following welfare standards:

  • Healthy & Well Cared For Puppies: All puppies should receive proper veterinary care, including vaccinations and deworming, as appropriate for their age. Sick or unwell puppies may not be listed.

  • Appropriate Living Conditions: Puppies must be raised in clean, safe, and humane environments with adequate space, food, water, and socialization.

  • Ethical Breeding Practices: We do not allow the sale of puppies resulting from unethical breeding practices, including inbreeding and known genetic risk factors (e.g. double merles).

  • Honest Representation: Sellers must provide accurate health and breed information and be transparent about any known medical conditions.

  • Age Requirement: Puppies must be at least 8 weeks old before being removed from their mother.

Prohibited Practices

Lancaster Puppies does not allow:

  • The Sale of Sick or Injured Animals: Listings of puppies that appear unwell, underweight, or show signs of neglect will be removed, and sellers will be investigated.

  • Deceptive or Misleading Ads: Sellers must not misrepresent a puppy’s health, breed, or lineage. False claims will result in ad removal and further action.

  • Unlicensed Breeding in Restricted States: If a state requires a breeder’s license, sellers must comply with all legal requirements before listing puppies.

  • Inhumane Treatment: Any reports of animal cruelty or neglect will be taken seriously and a full investigation will be conducted, that may result in complete seller removal from the platform.

Buyer Guidance

We encourage buyers to:

  • Visit the Seller When Possible: Seeing the puppy’s environment firsthand can help ensure they come from a responsible breeder.

  • Request Veterinary Records: Always ask for up-to-date vaccination and health records before completing a purchase.

Report Welfare Concerns: If you suspect a puppy has been mistreated or misrepresented, report it to Lancaster Puppies and the appropriate local animal welfare authorities.

Please see these helpful guides when you are considering a pet purchase:

Welfare Investigations & Enforcement

When a welfare concern is reported, Lancaster Puppies may take the following actions:

  1. Unpublish Listings: Any listings associated with welfare concerns will be immediately unpublished from our platform.

  2. Contacting the Seller: The seller will be informed of the issue and required to provide evidence of proper care.

  3. Requiring Veterinary Confirmation: Sellers may need to provide veterinary records proving their puppies are in good health before they are allowed to relist.

  4. Mandating Sanitation & Disease Prevention: In cases involving illness, sellers must provide proof that they have sanitized their facilities and that all remaining puppies have received proper medical care.

  5. Permanent Seller Removal: If violations are severe or ongoing, the seller will be permanently banned from our platform.

Reporting Welfare Concerns

If you believe a puppy listed on Lancaster Puppies is being mistreated or sold in poor health, please report it to us immediately. We will investigate the claim and take necessary action to protect the well-being of the animals.
